Proposal:

Food Recommendation Application.

The application will provide the user a selection of X number of food recommendations based on certain criteria as specified by the user (ie. distance, style, affordability, ratings, etc).

The application will consist of two major components:

• [1] a trigger function that will serve as a reminder to eat, as well as prompt the user to enter information to generate the food recommendations (this will be trigger based on time, ie. for lunch time or dinner, etc).
• [2] a bot-style that will allow the user to communicate (via chatbox) without a dead-end feeling. For example, the chatbox may ask the user for their current location, once the user answers, it may ask for additional information that will be used to generate food recommendations.

Note: Food recommendations will be generated utilizing Yelp API.

Additionally, the application will be using a level of machine learning (complexity will be determined as the project progresses).

• If there is enough time, I will create and train my own model.
• Else, I will utilize the Azure recommendation service.

Ultimately, the application will be self-learning, storing the user’s most recent selections, as well as common food preferences to generate a favorites list that will be updated as the user continues to use the application and make changes to choices made while using it.
